Bookish Crafts

I don’t know why, or what brought it on, but for a couple of weeks now, I’ve been in this really…well, I guess you could call it “creative mood”. I’ve also recently discovered how fun it is to paint mugs (of all things), and as a result, I have a couple of bookish creations I thought I’d show you. :)

I hope you like them. :)

First of all, and I actually made this one a few months ago, here’s a little Toothless amigurumi. :) I absolutely LOVE How to Train Your Dragon (which you’ll find more evidence of further down), so when I found the pattern for this one, I had to give it a try. :)

I chose to crochet the eyes instead of using fabric, and made one of the tailfins red. :)

Then, for my friend’s birthday, I made this Namesake (really great web comic, go check it out)  Cheshire cat amigurumi. :) By now it probably has a nose as well (since she’s better at that sort of thing, my friend gets to complete that particular task herself), but as it is no longer in my possession, this will have to do. :)

There isn’t really a pattern for this one since I made it myself, but if anyone by any chance would be interested, I might be able to throw something together.

And now on to the mugs!

My first go at this mug painting business, was this HUFFLEPUG Harry Potter mug, because why the hell not.

On the back, naturally, I wrote DOGWARTS. :)

Of course I needed a mug like this, what are you talking about, don’t judge. ;)

For my second mug, I decided to go with a HtTYD theme, because Toothless is the most adorable thing!

While painting the front, I used this super cute design as a reference.

And on the back I wrote “Always be yourself unless you can be a dragon, then always be a dragon”. :)

Then (because this stuff is super addictive), I made a Terry Pratchett Witches mug based on art from the cover of Lords and Ladies. :)

Then, for the other side, I used one of my favourite quotes from Wyrd Sisters:

“Things that try to look like things often do look more like things than things.”

And last, but not least, I made this Parasol Protectorate (by Gail Carriger) themed mug because 1. I love that series, and 2. tea.

I used this as reference for the octopus. :)

On the back I wrote “Tea, My Dearest Sugardrop?”, which isn’t a quote exactly, but almost.

And that, believe it or not, was all. :) Phew! I definitely have to slow down a bit. A girl only need so many mugs, you know, but it’s just so satisfying and fun. :) You should try it. ;)
