Hello :D
I’m just going to do this the same way I did it yesterday…by cheating ;)
My 10 Favourite Female Main Character Right Now
- Beatrice “Tris” Prior (Divergent)
Tris was absolutely one of my favourite heroins last year. She is strong, brave, smart, brutal, kind, selfless and selfish, all at the same time. She is just great!
“I feel like someone breathed new air into my lungs. I am not Abnegation. I am not Dauntless.
I am Divergent.”
- Hazel Lancaster (The Fault in Our Stars)
Hazel is such an amazing character. Her burden has transformed her into the kind of girl you just don’t find anywhere else and her voice is so, so personal. It felt like I was reading about a real person.
“That’s what we should do, Hazel Grace: We should team up and be this disabled vigilante duo roaring through the world, righting wrongs, defending the weak, protecting the endangered.”
“Our fearlessness shall be our secret weapon,” I said.”
- Anna Oliphant (Anna and the French Kiss)
Anna is one character that, like most of the others on this list, is both great and likeable :). She is very believable and her personality makes me want to be her best friend forever. I absolutely love her obsession with cleanliness and movies. :)
“I’m sorry,” he says.
“What? Why?”
“You’re fixing everything I set down.” He nods at my hands, which are readjusting the elephant. “It wasn’t polite of me to come in and start touching your things.”
“Oh, it’s okay,” I say quickly, letting go of the figurine. “You can touch anything of mine you want.”
He freezes. A funny look runs across his face before I realize what I’ve said. I didn’t mean it like that.
Not that that would be so bad.”
Haha, she is so awkward :D.
- Rose Hathaway (Vampire Academy)
Oh Rose..you’re so funny, kick-ass and awesome.
“Even I make mistakes.” I put on my brash, overconfident face. “I know it’s hard to believe—kind of surprises me myself—but I guess it has to happen. It’s probably some kind of karmic way to balance out the universe. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be fair to have one person so full of awesomeness.”
- Saba (Blood Red Road)
Saba’s devotion is probably one of the things I like the most about her. She knows what she needs to do and does it. She would fight armies to save the people she loves. I also kind of love that she’s so stubborn, angry and rude to people ;D.
“I’m sorry, I says.
Fer what? he says.
Fer always bein … you know … so-
Ungrateful? he says.
Yeah, I says.
Ornery?
I guess so.
Rude? Pig-headed? Violent?
I ain’t violent!
Oh yes, you are. Very. But I like that in a woman.
I laugh. Yer crazy, I says.
I was fine till I met you, he says.”
- Puck Connoly (The Scorpio Races)
Another rude character, is Puck Connoly. And she too is very determined, stubborn and strong. I really like that in a character. It’s very interesting and fun to read about, as long as it doesn’t get out of hand.
“My mother always said that I was born out of a bottle of vinegar instead of born from a womb and that she and my father bathed me in sugar for three days to wash it off. I try to behave, but I always go back to the vinegar.”
- Alexia Tarabotti (Parasol Protectorate)
I don’t speak often about miss Tarabotti, but she is one of the funniest characters I have ever stumbled upon:D. Gail Carriger is extraordinary!
“She filed the image away as an excellent and insulting question to ask the earl at an utterly inappropriate future moment.”
- Viola Eade (Chaos Walking)
As with Todd, I’m not sure what’s so special about Viola. Maybe it’s the two of them interacting together? Something just makes me love them!
“He looks up and the loss in his Noise is so great it feels like I’m standing on the edge of an abyss, that I’m about to fall down into him, into blackness so empty and lonely there’d never be a way out.
“Todd,” I say again, a catch in my voice. “On the ledge, under the waterfall, do you remember what you said to me? Do you remember what you said to save me?”
He’s shaking his head slowly. “I’ve done terrible things, Viola. Terrible things-”
“We all fall, you said.” I’m gripping his hand now. “We all fall but that’s not what matters. What matters is picking yourself up again.”
- Susannah Simons (The Mediator)
Another hilarious and kick-ass heroine :). Ain’t no ghost messing with Suze Simons ;)
“My mother’s psychologist says I have a over active anger switch, but people just keep pissing me off.”
- Cinder (Cinder)
Cinder is your typical Cinderella…except for the fact that she is awesomely good at mechanics AND is a cyborg. Huh? Huh? Great, I know ;).
“I’m sure I’ll feel much more grateful when I find a guy who thinks complex wiring in a girl is a turn-on.”
“You have no idea how to dance, do you?” Cinder fixed her gaze on him, mind still reeling. “I’m a mechanic.”
Finito :)
I’m not sure if you are aware of how crazy difficult this is for me. I could easily have added at least five more heroins I love as much as some of the amazing gals on this list. I just can’t write about them all. Well, it’s no turning back now :).
Please tell me about your favourite heroins or heroes in the comments!
Goodnight :D
